Is the severe underarm sweating problem ruining your life? Are the wet spots under your arms just too embarrassing to deal with? How about the odor? Do constantly try to avoid people because you are worried what they might think or say?

There are real solutions that resolve sever underarm sweating. But many fail to find the cause first before reaching for one of the many solutions available. Finding the cause in the first place can be difficult but it can be done. Finding the cause will quickly lead you to turning off the water flow from under your arms.

Facts – Severe Underarm Sweating

This is the place to start, learn all the facts first you can first. Once you know the facts move on to the known causes. Take a quick look at a short review of the facts first so you are on top of this.

Sweating is an important function for your body. The bodies’ built-in temperature control was designed to do two jobs. One of these jobs is to of course control body temperature. Another very important job of body sweating is to release toxins from the body. The odor associated with this sweat is normally unwelcome but the reason for it is the bacteria that grow very fast in the warm wetness.

The medical term for sweating is hyperhidrosis and severe underarm sweating is referred to as axillary hyperhidrosis.

What Causes Excessive Underarm Sweating?

In some the reason is excessive or an over abundance of sweat glands in the arm pits. Naturally more sweat glands will produce more sweat. Sometimes surgery is recommended for this case to remove some of the excess sweat glands. More often than not surgery is only used as a last resort.

Cases of excessive odor and a normal gland count including excessive wetness do have a number of causes. Here we will explore a few of them.

Are you taking medications? One of the major causes for excessive under arm sweating is cause by medications. A major culprit is drugs from the anti-depressant family; another is drugs in the pain reliever family like analgesics.

Of course where you work can be suspected also. Does the area you work seem to be hotter and more humid? Sometimes with constant exposure to hot humid areas a person’s body will begin to over compensate by producing more than normal amounts of sweat.

Over indulgence in alcohol can be the key that turns on excessive underarm sweat. Even small amounts of alcohol can be the cause in some people.

The foods we eat sometimes are the cause of underarm sweat including excessive sweat. Just to list a few of the foods the cause this are chocolate, hot peppers and greasy spicy foods along with the caffeine we get from coffee, soft drinks and power drinks.

Why See the Doctor?

There are times when the cause of severe underarm sweating is the result of a health problem. Heart conditions from minor to major heart attacks. Other examples come from hyperthyroid and another culprit is menopause. It takes a doctor’s help to eliminate these causes.

There are some very minor forms of the flu you can get that will cause frequent excessive sweating.

The Basics of Controlling Severe Underarm Sweating

In all severe cases that seem to chronic start with the family doctor first. Do this to rule out some health issue first. Then you can pursue one of the many methods of treating the problem that are natural.

Dealing with underarm sweating will make anyone go insane. And this is especially true when you don't have any idea how to get the sweating to stop. But it's okay. There are a few techniques and methods you can use to help. Below is some advice on how to stop sweaty armpits naturally.

Hyperhidrosis, also known as excessive sweating, can be eliminated using the correct techniques. Many things can be done to stop sweaty armpits. And one of those things is the use of antiperspirants. This can be either bought online or at store. Your doctor may have a particular kind they want you to use if you aren't sure which kind to get. The doctor you go to probably has a favorite brand that he likes to recommend to his patients.

Another tip on how to stop sweaty armpits is to use baby powder. You can rub some baby powder under your armpits to help them stop sweating excessively. If you've tried this before and it didn't work, you can also try carrying around a towel and wiping your underarms throughout the day.

Another method of stopping sweaty armpits that you can use is to have surgery. This is something that your doctor might suggest. The surgical procedure they will do is called clipping. It costs a lot of money and it can also be painful. If you don't want that done, then you can get botox injections or you could go through acupuncture. I've heard that both of these methods help stop sweaty armpits.

But the best way to stop excessive underarm sweating is to use home remedies. They are natural and anyone can use them. They are effective and will help you eliminate your sweating problem for good. The remedies can be found from your home and are something a lot of people are using who suffer from hyperhidrosis.

There is nothing as normal as sweating. We sweat during different points of the day. Sweating is a means of regulating your body temperature. Your brain is a very intelligent organ.

If it becomes to cold outside, your body will naturally want to warm you up by producing heat. In the opposite situation, your body sweats to cool you off when the environment is too cold.

There are a number of things that one can try to prevent sweating. If you are one of those people, you can try the following things:

First, you can try using an antiperspirant. What an antiperspirant does is to prevent sweating with the use of specific chemicals that inhibit your sweat glands from producing sweat.

You can find an assortment of antiperspirants but you will notice that most of them all contain aluminum chloride.

Second, you can try losing weight if you are on the heavy side.

If you have too much adipose tissues (just a fancy way of saying fats), you actually produce more heat which makes you feel warm. Notice that a person who has lots of fats does not feel cold as easily as a thing person would. This is because the fats serve as a barrier that dissipates the coldness by producing heat.

Third, it may not be a very good idea to drink lots of alcohol when you are out and you want to impress your date by not sweating.

Alcohol actually elevates you body temperature. In order for you to not feel the cold, your body tells you to sweat more to cool you down.

But finally, you can try giving up on coffee or at least limiting your consumption. With caffeine and sugar, coffee is a kind of stimulant.

What a stimulant usually does is to make your heart pump faster and increase your body temperature. Because of this, you sweat.

Of course sweat is a normal process of the body. The body will produce sweat naturally when it is hot to cool itself. When this normal function of the body goes out of control and you start sweating profusely for no apparent reason then some type of treatment is in order.

Here are three simple tips to help you stop sweating profusely when perspiration becomes excessive it is time for treatment. The first choice is antiperspirants and deodorants. Well you say, what is the difference between the two? First of all a deodorant will only deodorizes the smell. Second the antiperspirant works to stop the sweat glands for releasing moisture to the skin. Heavy amounts of sweat respond to the regular use of antiperspirants in many cases.

Some of the simple changes that will help the heavy sweater are change your environment to a cooler one if possible. Many with this type of problem can make easy changes to their life style to deal with excessive sweating. Adding some extra ventilation to your work area can have a big impact on the problem. If you work outside you may be able to move your work inside where it’s cooler.

Some other options available to you are loose fitting well ventilated clothes cotton or linen keep the skin much cooler. We also have clothes made today with advanced ventilation that do indeed keep the skin cooler under many conditions. Remember that all the artificial materials they use to make clothes can be a cause of profuse sweating to start with.

One of the reasons for heavy sweating is the body has reached a temperature that it thinks it needs to lower and of course it does this by sweating. Regular bathing with cooler water can help to lower the body temperature during the day.

Once you learn just what you need to do to control excessive sweating stick to it. By learning to control sweating you can actually stop the problem in less than a month without medical attention.

Sweating is a normal body function by design it cools the body somewhat like an air conditioner and our brain controls the thermostat. The amazing process works somewhat like this. The body gets hotter from fever, exercise, being excited or just maybe the outside temperature is the cause.

So for whatever the reason the body gets hotter the thermostat in the brain tells the sweat glands to make sweat. What the sweat does is wet the skin and when evaporation occurs it cools the skin causing the body to cool down. It is an amazing process in the design to cool the body so it does not overheat. When the thermostat gets out of whack then excessive sweating occurs and this is called hyperhidrosis.

Hyperhidrosis or Excessive Sweating

Excessive sweating while trying to sleep can be a real problem. It will make you toss and turn at night causing you to not get the rest you need to be healthy. The causes of hyperhidrosis or excessive sweating at night can be a simple condition like menopause or something more serious signaling an underlying disease.

This is why you must discuss this with your doctor. The night sweating excessively could be the signal that there is a real problem. Some of the natural antiperspirants can provide some relief from excessive sweat. Apply them to the problem areas like the skin folds, underarms, feet and hands or any other parts of the body that have excessive sweat.

A great naturally absorbent power that does a great job is very inexpensive corn starch. It is odorless and absorbs sweat wonderfully.

Other Excessive Sweating Solutions

A cool shower or even cold if you can stand it (right before bed)

Wear to bed breathable cotton fibers

Always use natural cotton fiber bed linens

Never wear socks to bed even consider uncovering your feet

A good way to circulate the air in the bedroom with a ceiling fan

Having enough sleep is the best way to relax your tired mind and body. After a long day of hard work, you deserve a peaceful break from all the stresses and pressures you are experiencing in life. Sweating in sleep can deprive you of this very important human need. If you always toss and turn over your damp sheets, your constant loss of sleep will detrimentally affect your performance in school or at work.

If you want to get rid of this condition, you should understand the main causes of night sweats first. Here are some of the most probable reasons behind why your sweat glands keep you awake at night.

Andropause or menopause

Both men and women are equally prone to night sweats. During their transition to menopause or andropause, hormonal changes start affecting their hypothalamus. Since the hypothalamus is the human body's built-in thermostat, changes in hormonal levels directly affect their body temperature and increase their sweat levels. If you are experiencing these hormonal changes, expect excessive perspiration when you are trying to sleep.

Wrong Lifestyle and Eating Habits

Adopting a sedentary lifestyle often causes sweating in sleep. Obesity because of eating fatty food and lack of exercise can make you sweat more than a normal person should. Excessive caffeine and alcohol intake are also associated to sweating at night because of their corresponding effect to your sweat glands.

Diabetes, HIV, and Tuberculosis

Nocturnal hyperhidrosis is actually a symptom of diseases like diabetes, HIV, and tuberculosis. These diseases increase the body temperature and produce extreme perspiration. If your night sweats are accompanied by heaviness of breathing, changes in heart rates, and chest pains, you should consult your doctor as soon as possible.

Side Effects of Mediation

Some medicinal compounds might affect your regular sweat levels. Cortisone, prednisone, and prednisolone, which are medicines used for treating arthritis and asthma, can significantly elevate your body temperature.

Try reducing your sweating in sleep by addressing the different factors that might be its origin. Once you know its roots, it would not be hard to look for the appropriate remedy that you need.

Excessive Sweating During Sleep

Excessive sweating at night while you are trying to sleep is not only uncomfortable but it can be detrimental to your health. The night sweats cause you to toss and turn disrupting you from getting a goodnight sleep. The body performs a number of functions during sleep that must occur to remain healthy. So if you are suffering from excessive sweating at night the condition is not hopeless. The night sweating can be cured or at the very least reduced. Here are some simple steps to begin to find a solution to this uncomfortable condition.

Excessive Sweating Causes

The first step in finding a solution is to find out why you suffer from night sweats. Once you begin to research some of the reasons that are the cause of the condition you will understand the causes that relate to your problem. There are even some simple causes that are related to your diet. Your lifestyle could include over use of drugs and alcohol which is common causes of hyperhidrosis. Andropause or menopause is another source of hyperhidrosis.

Solutions to Night Sweating

Once you discover the cause of the night sweating it just may not be very hard to solve. Sometimes it is as simple as changing your lifestyle. Bad eating habits and spending too much time with no physical activity can be changed. A little exercise and a proper diet of vegetables and fresh fruits skipping the fatty and spicy foods for a while may be the fast solution. The over indulgence in too much caffeine from coffee or chocolate can be the cause.

Another cause is that it is just too hot in the evening; if this is the case you will need to get and wear clothes loosely and made of absorbent cotton. Cotton fitting loosely is not only absorbent but helps the body adapt better to the temperature at night.

See Your Medical Professional

If the simple solutions do not seem to solve the problem it may be time for a visit to your medical professional. There could be some underlying cause affecting your physical condition causing the night sweating. The doctor can assess the situation to see if some medication may be needed to solve the problem.

You do not need to suffer from excessive sweating in this day and age. Curing and controlling it may just be a simple step away.

Sometimes thought of as "problem perspiration, " but the truth is that sweating too much is not only a social problem. Sweating too much is a genuine medical condition that's as mentally and emotionally disabling as it is socially embarrassing. Some, people who endure sweating too much often do not realize that their condition can be treated. Instead, they try to compensate for it, avoiding social situations and isolating themselves from other people out of fear of embarrassment.

It is too bad; many people who suffer from excessive sweating think they're the only ones with this problem. It is not too well known, just in the United States alone, approximately 7.6 million people suffer from excessive sweating. They suffer the discomfort and embarrassment that comes with sweating too much. Excessive sweating, known by the medical term "hyperhidrosis”, has only recently begun to get the attention needed to do something about it.

You would think that is this day and age that the cause for sweating too much would be identified. People young and old both endure excess sweating in the armpits, hands, feet, face, scalp and neck. They often find themselves drenched in sweat for no apparent reason. The problem is compounded for women sufferers, who give up wearing make-up for fear that excess perspiration will melt their cosmetics off their faces!

Initial research has linked it to a genetic disorder, but there are really no definite solid cast studies for why it happens. Doctors now believe that sweating too much occurs because of an overreaction by the sympathetic part of the nervous system. This is the body function that controls sweating to regulate body temperature. Emotional stress worsens the condition. Sometimes sweating too much can be a side effect of drugs used to treat high blood pressure or depression. Obesity can be a factor, but not always. Not knowing what causes sweating too much adds a lot of frustration and discomfort.

Thankfully there are more treatments now for sweating too much that provide some relief than there have been in the past. Hyperhidrosis treatments today offer surgical or non-surgical methods. Surgical methods can involve treating the sweat glands with electric shocks to "short-circuit" the nerve response. Botox injections are proving beneficial for excessive underarm sweating, but they're not approved for other parts of the body. However, surgical treatment can result in side effects, such as loss of sensation in the affected area or compensatory sweating elsewhere in the body.

Some non-surgical treatments for hyperhidrosis use medications to reduce sweating. Sometimes antiperspirants, either over-the-counter or prescription strength, bring relief. Sufferers who prefer a more natural approach are trying herbal remedies like those used by women who sweat excessively due to menopause.

No matter what, sweating too much shouldn't be seen as a personal failure or condemnation to the life of recluse, but as a medical condition requiring treatment. See your doctor about finding the treatment options that are best for you.

If you suffer from a medical condition known as Axillary Hyperhidrosis, excessive armpit sweating. The sweat glands located underneath the arms are extremely hyperactive and produce far too much sweat.

Generally people sweat when the body gets over heated and needs to cool down. Just being in 80 degree weather with high humidity, similar to a sauna or working out will cause people to sweat. With a condition like axillary hyperhidrosis the sweat can be constant and occurs without any physical reason or need to cool down.

Axillary hyperhidrosis causes people to sweat most of the time for no reason at all. When the cause is related to emotions or life situations, controlling the triggers is the real cure for sweating.

Standard treatments for armpit sweating offer many very little relief. With the developments of non-traditional treatments becoming available through specialized doctors relief is not within reach. Some of the newer treatments are not simple or pleasant; they have proven to be very successful for many treating the excessive sweating.

The ever popular Botox injections for wrinkles on the face and neck have expanded to treatment of excessive armpit sweating. Now FDA approved its becoming a standard treatment for excessive sweating. By preventing the nerve activity in the glands and muscles just beneath the skin it produces a side effect of reducing sweat making a successful treatment for over active sweat glands. The success for this type of treatment can last as much as six months.

Another medical treatment known as iontoporesis has proven to also be very helpful treating patients. It provides decreasing sweat gland activity. Normally administered in a doctor’s office some of devices are starting to show up available to take home and use. With the patient sitting with hands and feet in water, and electrical current is passed into the body. It may sound like something you would not want to do, but it is a pain free procedure. It is well worth the time invested being able to experience much less active sweat glands.

This type of treatment has not yet been officially proven or dis-proven as yet for treatments for excessive armpit sweating. But many are finding them to be a great alternative to surgery. Being a much less evasive treatment than a surgical procedure many patients opt for treatments.

To control excessive sweating can be a difficult undertaking, the medical term is hyperhidrosis. It is when the perspiration function of the body has gotten some kind of trouble and is not working properly. You sweat to cool the body down with a hyperhidrosis you can sweat for strange reasons. The sweat can continue for a long length of time. And a lot of the time there does not seem to be a valid reason for the overactive sweat glands not turning off. Sometimes the excessive sweating can be embarrassing in social situations.

For over the counter remedies to control hyperhidrosis without the help of a doctor, the options are only antiperspirants. We do have some prescription strength antiperspirants available on the market today that no longer require the prescription. You can find them at local drug stores in the health and beauty department. But your doctor can write a prescription for a number of other more effective prescription strength products to control excessive sweating that may be better for you.

It is a mistake made by some that excessive sweating is caused by bad hygiene. It is really a medical condition that causes the excessive sweating. Just taking more showers and using more deodorant is not going to solve the problem, although they will keep the skin bacteria and the odor at bay. To control excessive sweating may need the advice of you medical professional.

If you decide to pass on the doctor for now there are some tips to follow that will just maybe point you in the right direction to control excessive sweating. Start by logging when the sweating spells occur. By being aware of what the trigger may be can go a long way in resolving the excessive sweating? It is possible that something in your environment may be the cause and the resolution may be as simple as avoiding or eliminating the trigger.

If you decide to take the faster route to a quick resolution to excessive sweating by a visit to your doctor, ask about prescription strength antiperspirants. There is also a device that is very effective on many for excessive sweating. It is a device that sends electrical currents through the body. Sometimes under specific conditions certain precaution should be followed and your doctor can suggest which to follow based on your condition.

Botox injections work well for the sweating that occurs under the arms and has now been approved as a treatment for this area of the body. Proven to be very effective in reducing the sweat from underarms but it may not work as well on other parts of the body where control of excessive sweating is needed.

Control of excessive sweating can also be gained by some surgical procedures available today. Using the less invasive methods first is a better recommendation for gaining control over the condition at first. Surgery is best kept as a solution of last resort for control of excessive sweating.
